JUSTICE LEAGUE - REVIEW

Image
Plagued with a last minute change in director as Joss Whedon took over from Zack Snyder after a tragic event, significant reshoots and a pesky, unshavable super-moustache, Justice League finally gets its official release and the reviews, so far, have been rather mixed, to say the least. Marvel certainly made it look easy when they introduced us to a whole bunch of newly portrayed superheroes on the big screen then skilfully made them interact with each other. The Avengers , it turns out, was something of a mini-miracle. DC's approach to crossovers had proven shaky prior to Justice League with Wonder Woman being shoehorned into Batman V Superman before the character even got her own movie. This new film promised epic action sequences, an entertaining dynamic between all the characters and several surprises like the glorious return of Superman. On their own, there's not too much wrong with these characters: Ben Affleck makes a good Batman, Gal Gadot does a decent job as Wo

JUSTICE LEAGUE VS. TEEN TITANS - REVIEW

Image
Released in 2016, Justice League vs. Teen Titans was an animated feature attempting to give a bit more of a grown-up edge to the Teen Titans by making them useful to the Justice League as they deal with a new significant enemy. The film opens with the Justice League in the middle of a battle against the likes of Lex Luthor, Toymaster, Cheetah and Solomon Grundy. After Damian Wayne/Robin (voiced by Stuart Allan) disobeys Batman's orders by ending the fight all by himself, he is sent for training with the Teen Titans so he can learn teamwork. Damian Wayne is just as much of a moody brat as he was in the Son Of Batman trilogy, if not more so, and he's pretty dislikable throughout. He quickly becomes friends with Raven (Taissa Farmiga), who is somehow even more emo than he is,

THE AVENGERS - REVIEW

With the success of Marvel's modern comic-book to movie adaptations, it was inevitable that a crossover would one day be attempted. The studio had, after all, been building up to it for years, testing their own capabilities with every movie and the result was one huge epic that did not disappoint entertainment-wise and raised the bar for any superhero flicks that followed. The run-up to the film was hardly flawless with The Hulk going through two makeovers before Mark Ruffalo snapped the role and Iron Man 2 not getting the best reviews despite being loads of fun. Potential further helpers Spider-Man and The Fantastic Four crashed and burned before the big project, the former going for a reboot and the latter not looking good, to say the least. Joss Whedon leads an all-star cast in this cinematic adventure full of iconic characters so many kids and adults alike have been picturing themselves as since they were three. Chris Evans plays it straight once again as Steve Rogers/C
